Ranking the CSI franchise

There’s a post that I figured I should do where I rank the CSI franchise from worst to best. This can be my next random post. I might explain more of when I’m doing these random posts in the future or I might not. Just as long as you know when to expect these (randomly), it will be updated. Before I get to the worst of the franchise, I might as well go through what I’m not ranking, even if it is technically part of the franchise.

There are three shows that had crossovers with the other shows in the franchise. They are Two and a Half Men, Cold Case, and Without a Trace. I could rank them among the rest of the franchise, but I will not. Regarding Two and a Half Men, that would clearly be below every other part of this CSI shows. As for Without a Trace, I liked that more than the rest of the franchise. Regarding Cold Case, I never saw a whole episode of it from start to finish so I can’t exactly rank it with the others. How would I rank the four parts of it? Well, let’s start with #4 then work our way up to the top.

CSI: Miami- This is the worst part of the franchise to me. Why do I say that? Well, there were different problems with it. For one, it was too dark for me to like as much as others. Outside of the core main characters in the cast, we never saw much of the cast and it changed a lot. A lot of the plots were bad and the ending didn’t really wrap everything up despite how long it lasted.

CSI- Maybe it is because I saw it too late into its run and not earlier that it just didn’t seem like there were a lot of good episodes towards the end. This might have been the only one to have jumped the shark and just kept going even though it was out of good ideas. I hope to see the earlier episodes of it in the future because I still liked it generally, just not for as long as it lasted.

CSI: Cyber- While others hate this show more than the rest of the franchise, I quite enjoyed it. I don’t rank it as the best because it did still have issues with it not being as believable as others. It seemed more like a blip on the radar in the end and some might hate the fact that it was the last one left on the air, even if it was the shortest lasting of all of them. Still it was different than the others and was the only spin-off to not just seem like a carbon copy of the original.

CSI: New York- I like this one the best because of its well rounded cast that was fairly consistent despite being on the air for nine seasons. It had the best ending of all the shows and worked pretty well on its own. The main character seemed more heroic than any of the others and it seemed to have the best plots overall. I can’t think of much, of anything, that I didn’t like about this.

Well, that’s about it for this post. If you read my other blogs, then it would make more sense as to when this blog will be updated. I just hope that other people understand it as I might be the only one who cares when this blog is updated and others just expect it whenever and not even notice things like that. I do think that I did a good ranking of the shows so you can do your own lists if you agree with it or not. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Cast Update 8-4-2018

While some of you might want to know when more of these random posts will show up again and just want me to tell you, know that I don’t yet know when they will happen myself. As for the cast updates, I think that I said before how other people could appear in this blog that are related to other shows in the CSI franchise or a show that I blog about that is not yet over but still has people who have left that cast. Because of that, I will include John Noble from Elementary in the updates from here forward. Other, important things to say regard the CBS schedule. Both Whistleblower and Pink Collar Crimes have been added to the schedule, seemingly as last minute shows.

Patricia Arquette: The main star of CSI: Cyber has future projects mentioned on imdb right now. There is a pretty notable sequel in the work that she is doing. While we don’t know what role she might have in the movie, it looks like she will be lending her voice talent to that of Toy Story 4. Another role that I found her in is a project called High Life. If that wasn’t enough, there will be yet another project she’ll be in called The Bell Jar. I see another new project of hers called Escape at Dannamora. She is in something new called Otherhood. I wonder what that’s about.

Toy Story 4: I still don’t know what to make of this movie. Most of us probably found the idea of Toy Story 3 to be ridiculous, but loved the movie when we saw it in the end. Fourth installments of movies tend to get intense hatred from critics and fans. I’ll let you know my thought eventually when I’m able to see it. But its release date is a long ways off. It is set for release on June 21st, 2019.

High Life: This movie is listed as in the preproduction stage on imdb. It appears to be about a woman and her father who are isolated and living in deep space. It does not have a specific date mentioned, but it should be coming out in 2018. I hope that it comes out as it sounds good and interesting. I don’t see this on imdb anymore so this might not be going forward as a project anymore.

The Bell Jar: This movie is about a person dealing with mental illness. It says that it is both comedy and drama so it might be like 50 First Dates. I’ll let you know when/if it has an actual release date or trailer. It no longer has a year of release mentioned. It was going to be out in 2018, but now is an unknown year. We’ll see what all changes in the future.

Escape at Dannamora: This is a TV show that is set from release sometime in 2018. It will air on the Showtime network. It is about a romance that an employee gains for two inmates that she then want to help escape. I don’t know how I feel about that. I also don’t know how or if I could see it.

Otherhood: It seems like it will be a Netflix movie so I doubt that I’ll be able to see it in the long run. It is a comedy about mothers going to visit their sons. If there is a trailer, I’ll put it in here. Otherwise, you’ll see it in these updated until it has a score on imdb. Its year of release is 2019.

Peter MacNicol: It seems that he will be in a movie called Harvey Birdman, Attorney General. Hopefully something will come of it at some point. Otherwise, there really won’t be much of a point in having it in the updates.

Harvey Birdman, Attorney General: This will be a made for TV movie of some sort. I have no idea what network it might air on or whether or not I’ll be able to watch this at all. I just know that it is set to air sometime in 2018.

James Van Der Beek: A new project in the future for this actor is something called What Would Diplo Do? You can read more about that in the next paragraph. I see a new project for him called Vampirina. I see him in a new TV show called Pose that I’ll get to. I won’t know for sure about how long some of his shows will last so I hope that I’m not always talking about them when or if they aren’t on anymore. I don’t know what else to say about that.

What Would Diplo Do?: This is currently out now as of this update. It will be based off of the life of DJ Diplo, whoever that is. It is air on Viceland, whatever network that is. I don’t know or care much about it. It has a trailer now.

Thoughts on trailer: This is kind of what I was expecting from the trailer: a bunch of random, meaningless scenes that are somehow going to promote the show. This doesn’t make me more interested in it and seems to only make me glad that I won’t be able to watch it anyways. That’s not to say that it was that bad a trailer, but they should have tried harder than they did.

This would be the point where I would do a review of the show, but I can’t as I’m not able to see it. I don’t think that I’ll be interested in it anyways. I don’t know if I’ll care and I don’t know when it will air on Viceland. If you care about it, then please watch and if not, then just ignore it.

Vampirina: This is a show about a young vampire girl who has to adjust after a move. It is an animated Disney Junior show as vampires are a thing that kids should be educated about in some way. It is out now. I would review if I could see cable so if you want to review it, just comment on this post and I’ll use what you say as a review.

Pose: This is airing now on FX yet could be ending its first season already. I don’t know for sure what might be happening. The plot for it mentioned on imdb sounds really confusing and I believe that it relates to transgender issues in some way. It actually has a trailer now. I doubt that I will ever be able to watch it.

Thoughts on trailer: This doesn’t seem any good or interesting to me. It just seems like it is another lame attempt to get people interested in the fashion industry. I don’t even know for sure if the transgender stuff that might be in here is in here. But I don’t care about the fashion industry and this looks lame and vague. Why do people care who wears what when?

Shad Moss: After all this time I’ve been doing updates, I was beginning to be concerned that I’d never find something for him. Well, he finally has a project in the works. It is called Superstition: The Rule of 3’s. That’s the only new project that I see him in right now, although I’m more than glad that he’s finally doing something.

Superstition: The Rule of 3’s: This is a thriller movie on the belief that death occurs in threes. I have no idea what role Shad will end up playing in the film. The status of the film is listed as filming. It has no release date or trailer just yet.

Charley Koontz: It appears that he, for sure, is appearing in Captain Black. I’m not sure what else he is doing and this could wind up with a random rating on imdb by the posting of this update or the next update. In fact, when the new year starts, I may have to amend any shows or movies with no known release date even if they were set to be released in 2016. I’ll never understand what happens with some of those films. He is also going to be in a TV movie called Work Mom.

Captain Black: It does not have a release date or trailer just yet. It is about a man who has an interest in a comic character and gets in some sort of relationship he shouldn’t have. Also, I need to work on writing my own original taglines for movies so that I’m not just copying what someone else has written (although I don’t think that I’m doing that). It has an unknown release date at this time.

Work Mom: I have no idea what network this might air on. There is not a trailer for it, although I wouldn’t expect there to be one. It has an unknown release date at the moment. At least I know that the plot relates to a person hiring their unemployed mother at a place of some sort. It could be good or strange. At least it sounds like a nice attempt at a comedy.

Hayley Kiyoko: With her not having much to talk about for a while, I might as well just talk about her music videos. I’ll do one in each post starting with the next one. I would have done one this month, but I ultimately felt that I didn’t have time to mention one. I won’t know how old each of these are, but I will say one in every new post until she can find some long term project to mention instead.

Ted Danson: He is appearing on The Good Place on NBC. Surely his time off of TV means that he could be doing movies in the meantime, but we’ll see if that happens soon or not. It looks like he is doing more now that I can finally see. He is appearing in the upcoming ninth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. It seems like he might be in every episode of it too. It looks like he’s also appearing in a movie called Hearts Beat Loud.

The Good Place: This is an NBC comedy. It is an afterlife based comedy. Ted appears on it in a supporting role. He plays a person who designed the section of the good place for the main characters, although it is possible he made mistakes.

Review: The Good Place: Status- Currently on hiatus. Why I’ve seen it- In order to review this for this blog, I watched it. Description- A comedy, a woman finds out that she is dead, but in the good place. The main problem: she’s not supposed to be there. Notable People- Ted Danson, who was in many shows in the past, among them Cheers, CSI, and CSI: Cyber, is a character on the show. Kristen Bell, who did many movies and Veronica Mars, is the main character. Pros- The show is different and interesting. It tries to keep religion out of it so as to not offend anyone. Cons- The idea of things going wrong with the good place in death is a bit hard to believe. It lacks a certain amount of charm that you would want it to have. It doesn’t seem as funny as it could be. Note to Parents- This is borderline is terms of what is acceptable to let your kids watch or not. Recommendation- I say that you should watch this if you can because it is pretty good. Prediction- It might last a while, but I’m not sure yet if it will last long. Reception: positive. Grade: B.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: This show has been rebooted and is back with new episodes. It is on right now on HBO. I don’t know the timeslot and don’t know if I can watch it. Hopefully I can get someone to do a guest review for it, but that seems unlikely since that hasn’t happened before with other shows. Of course, if I could borrow a copy that someone that I know has, then I could just watch it on my own. But I don’t think that will happen without doing more research.

Hearts Beat Loud: The plot relates to a father and daughter forming a musical duo before she leaves for college. It sounds cool and hopefully will be good. I just don’t know much about it yet. I guess we’ll have to wait until then before this gets a full review or even later until it is on DVD. I hope to see it soon. It actually has a trailer now. It has a DVD release date of September 14, 2018.

Thoughts on trailer: This looks like it could be good or it could be somewhat questionable. It might be an independent film. I should like those, but they are often less than what other films are. I hope that I’m able to see it and I hope that I like it. I would say that this might be a fun film and hope that it is. I mean, it doesn’t look bad.

I would review this now, but it seems that it is not out in any way that I can watch it just yet. Hopefully it will be on regular DVD. Whether it is or isn’t, just know that you will see this in the updates for a while yet until I can see it, which I hopefully can in the future.

Anthony E Zuiker: It would appear that for now there are no future projects in the work for this franchise creator. He might be working on some sort of project that we don’t know of just yet. But there is nothing known to the public yet. There is nothing new to report.

Carol Mendelsohn: There is a new project in store for this writer as of this update. I’m not sure where it is in terms of happening versus not happening. I will tell you about anything she is a producer of since I want to see something in these updates for her. She has a project in the works called Witchblade. We’ll have to see what happens regarding that. She also has a new project called Chiefs which could be a TV movie or show.

Witchblade: This is based off of a comic book. From what I can tell, it is in the magical girls genre, although it might have only one girl whose power comes from an object. I should hopefully have a plot description of it in the future. The release date is unknown at this particular time.

Chiefs: I hope that this becomes a show because it sounds interesting. Even if it is just a movie, I’d still like to see it. There are three female police officers who are hunting a serial killer. Just as long as they could be good and not sexy (sexy wouldn’t hurt, just don’t make them sex obsessed), this should be what I look for in a good show. Now it doesn’t have a release date yet. This sounds like the best of her potential projects thus far.

Ann Donahue: There’s no new information about this writer. I’m sure that she’ll probably find something, but I’m not sure when. As of this month, there are still no new updates regarding this writer. I hope that she does something. There is nothing new to report.

Bebe Neuwirth: There’s not much to say about her right now. She’s had a recurring bit on Blue Bloods and may show up on it from time to time. Until then, she is probably just going to be in a limited number of things and I’ll wait until she does something more before I put it later in the updates.

John Noble: I don’t yet know if I’ll review some of what he does in my Elementary blog when the show is on hiatus like I did with True to the Game. But he has a lot of projects in the work, so I might as well get to mentioning all of them. One is called Silencio. Another is called Nameless. A different one is called Stream. Yet another is called Guardians of Luna. I wonder if they’ll all get made.

Silencio: This looks like it will be Mexican and might not be in American theaters. It does not yet have a plot mentioned, but one can assume that it deals with silence. It has no date of release, but is set for release in 2018. I wish that I knew more about it.

Nameless: This could be interesting. It has no release date or trailer just yet. The plot relates to lost souls facing struggles with their past. It seems like it could be a good film, but it is hard to tell or know yet for sure.

Stream: In this movie, telepathy is made possible, but it could have unforeseen outcomes. This seems like a possible basic premise for Downsizing with a different element of sci-fi used instead. There is not yet a trailer and there’s no release date yet.

Guardians of Luna: This plot might be hard to keep track of. So there are werewolves that are part of a cursed town and there’s a war on humans potentially. It has no release date yet nor a trailer. But it does sound pretty interesting.

Cast Update 7-8-2018

Man, I don’t know if I’ll be able to remember all that I want to talk about in this mostly worthless introduction of mine. What I can tell you about is that I added The Big Bang Theory season 1 to my main watching list. That means that the next four things to add to the list are Invader Zim season 1, Moonlight the complete series, 8 Simple Rules season 1, and Dollhouse season 2.

As for the schedule changes on CBS regarding the summer shows, 48 Hours: NCIS aired in place of NCIS: New Orleans again. I don’t know if TKO is airing in place of Zoo or Candy Crush. It would make more sense if timeslots were similar or both had been replaced. CBSN: On Assignment does not appear to be coming back. There will be two shows airing the rest of the episodes they haven’t aired yet. They are Me, Myself, and I as well as the show Living Biblically.

Five Points: I know absolutely nothing about this thus far. It is a TV show, but I don’t know which network it might air on. I guess that we’ll see what happens regarding this as I don’t see much about it just yet. It has a rating on imbd so I’m going to remove it from future updates then as a result.

Ted Danson: He is appearing on The Good Place on NBC. Surely his time off of TV means that he could be doing movies in the meantime, but we’ll see if that happens soon or not. Could the CSI Franchise be Rebooted?

After the cancellation of the last part of the CSI franchise, one would wonder if there will ever be more to the franchise in the future. Surely they’d have to reboot it at some point, right? I do wonder if CBS will be network that might air a new part of it. Considering how ABC, FOX, and NBC all rejected the pilot of the original CSI, it could be something that one of them could wind up trying at one point, provided that they can get the rights to it. I just don’t know if the franchise is over forever or not.

There are potential problems/issues/reasons why they wouldn’t do a new CSI show. This includes CBS itself. For one, the franchise isn’t really that important anymore. It had its time and then ended. CBS now has the NCIS franchise which could last them a long time even if parts of it start to end. Some in actual law enforcement have criticized the franchise a lot and may be glad that it isn’t there anymore since it made their job harder.

More reasons why they wouldn’t want to try new CSI shows are because it seems that no one really wants any more. If people still cared about the franchise, then they would have still watched the franchise when it was still on. Whether it was intense hatred for just the last version (CSI: Cyber) or some other reason, they just don’t care anymore about it. Plus, trying to reboot it might end the same may most reboots do: cancellation after just one season. One could argue that’s why CSI: Cyber failed. They were trying to make the next generation of the show, yet it failed to resonate with viewers.

How would they try to start this again? Well, if they do try to reboot the franchise, I would suspect that it would be a TV movie that would also serve as a pilot. I could imagine them doing a two hour movie sort of like Immorality that would serve as a potential beginning to a new series. It could work to start the franchise over again. Or they could try something else. Or it could be over forever.

I have no idea of the franchise is over or not. It could be, but it might not. I hope that you enjoyed this random post regardless. I should be back with other random posts some other time. You’ll keep seeing the regular cast updates in the meantime. We’ll see in the future if this franchise ever returns to TV with new episodes or even to the theaters with new movies. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Cast Update 6-3-2018

Well, ever since I added Nelsan Ellis to the cast updates here, I had part of this blog dedicated to something else as not part of the blog. Since his last movie is out and there is no reason to ever update you on his career anymore since he is dead and won’t be having one, then I don’t want to shortchange the readers of this blog and I’d want to put in some other person in here to keep you updated about.

I could add someone from the cast of CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, or Without a Trace, all shows I might want to blog about in the future. But I also have blogs about Elementary and Madam Secretary. While there is a former cast member from Elementary that I could keep you updated about, I’ve decided that for the near future, this blog will be a dumping ground for all of the former cast members of Madam Secretary. I will be adding other people as I progress in the future of this blog. They will be the last people mentioned and will be in the same fonts used for the rest of this blog instead of the Arial font that I’ve been using in the past.

Pose: This is set to start airing on June 3, 2018 (today). It will air on FX. The plot for it mentioned on imdb sounds really confusing and I believe that it relates to transgender issues in some way. It actually has a trailer now.

Hayley Kiyoko: She is on some sort of TV show called Five Points. It will be on facebook watch. What is that? Facebook does TV now? I wish that I knew more about it, but if I don’t hear much soon, I may have to cut it from the updates in hopes that something else will come along.

Five Points: I know absolutely nothing about this thus far. It is a TV show, but I don’t know which network it might air on. I guess that we’ll see what happens regarding this as I don’t see much about it just yet. It may be out already, but I’ll keep it in the updates for now until I can learn more about it. Since it is a TV show, I’d keep it in this updates for as long as I know the show lasts.

While it has a score on imdb, it says that it won’t be out in theaters in the US until June 8, 2018. I guess we’ll have to wait until then before this gets a full review or even later until it is on DVD. I hope to see it soon. It actually has a trailer now.

Schedule

Out now- Curb Your Enthusiasm, Vampirina (on DVD), What Would Diplo Do?

Cast Update 5-6-2018

There is a lot to talk about in this introduction. For one, I don’t know if I ever told you that Living Biblically was airing in place of 9JKL. Only it seems that Living Biblically is cancelled. And 9JKL is cancelled as well. There will be two shows starting this early summer season. Scorpion is replaced now by Elementary. That means that the blog updates of that blog will be back to where they were on Thursdays. You won’t have to read this blog for updates for that anymore, at least not for the near future.

I am planning on adding something to this blog in future posts in order to make up for what I can’t say here anymore relating to Elementary. Expect something starting in the very next post. In terms of schedule changes, Criminal Minds will be replaced by Code Black. Soon, we will know for sure what all will be different on CBS next season. Also, on the CW, Legends of Tomorrow is done for the season and is replaced by the rest of Supergirl’s current season. It was on hiatus, but now it is back. Yet another scheduling note is that Celebrity Undercover Boss will be taking the place of MacGyver for the start of the summer season in the schedule.

I also have more of an update on the movie Permanent.

Permanent: This actually came out on DVD fairly recently. I’m not sure how I missed the date when it came out, but I saw it at the video store and felt that I should get it as soon as I can. So I rented it. A review now follows.

Movie Name: Permanent. Rating: PG-13. Description- A girl tries to fit into her new town in a movie set in the past. CSI: Cyber Alumni in it- Patricia Arquette plays the mother of the main character. Pros- It is different enough and makes a good enough story on trying to fit in with people. Cons- It is far too weird. It is too focused on hair for a lot of the plot. It isn’t funny and you can tell that they were trying to be. A lot of it didn’t make sense and winds up being lost due to it not being focused on like it should be. Note to Parents- There is a lot of foul and sexual language with other sexual moments, but no nudity is in this. Recommendation- Don’t bother with it. IMDB Ranking: 5.4. My Grade: D-.

Peter MacNicol: It appears that nothing new is mentioned with him anymore. It doesn’t even mention him being part of Tangled. I don’t understand what is going on here since different news sources mention him with Tangled, even though the news sources that imdb uses tend to be a bit questionable and don’t always relate to the actor who whoever I’m looking up. I guess that we’ll wait and see what projects, if any, he winds up doing in the future. I’m not sure if he is doing something. You might catch him in the show Veep, but it seems like he’s limited to guest roles on it and nothing yet too important. He was on a recent episode of The Big Bang Theory. I might talk about that episode randomly in the future, or I might not.

James Van Der Beek: A new project in the future for this actor is something called What Would Diplo Do? You can read more about that in the next paragraph. I see a new project for him called Vampirina. I see him in a new TV show called Pose that I’ll get to. He’s also in a new movie called Downsizing. I won’t know for sure about how long some of his shows will last so I hope that I’m not always talking about them when or if they aren’t on anymore.

I don’t even know for sure if the transgender stuff that might be in here is in here. But I don’t care about the fashion industry and this looks lame and vague.

Downsizing: This is on DVD now. Sorry that it took so long to review it. I would have had this done by the previous post, only I wasn’t able to rent it then as all the copies of it were out, taken by other people to watch. Well, now I’m finally able to review it and I will take it out of these updates as a result.

Movie Name: Downsizing. Rating- R. Description- A man has problems with his life and he thinks that shrinking himself could help. CSI: Cyber Alumni in it- James Van Der Beek. I missed whatever role he played as it must have been so minor. Pros- This has good social commentary on class and other things. The plot is fairly straightforward. Cons- It can be hard to understand at times. Not all of it makes sense. Things don’t seem to be resolved entirely. They could have done more with special effects. Note to Parents- There is a lot of penis in this. The f word is used a lot in one scene and shows up elsewhere as well. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. I fell better having rented it than I would have if I bought this. IMDB Ranking: 5.7. My Grade: C.

It has an unknown release date at this time.

Hayley Kiyoko: She is on some sort of TV show called Five Points. It will be on facebook watch. What is that? Facebook does TV now? I wish that I knew more about it, but if I don’t hear much soon, I may have to cut it from the updates in hopes that something else will come along. Speaking of that, it appears that she has done at least one new music video called Curious. I should talk about it next.

Curious: This is already out now as of this update. There’s not much to do expect to link to the video online and have me list my thoughts about it. At least it’s good knowing that Hayley is a singer and that’s why I don’t see her in movies a lot.

Thoughts on it: I’m not entirely sure what to make of all this. Perhaps this is for people who are bi-curious. The plot of the video seems to be a bit strange and I don’t know why Hayley has to be partly undressed for any of this. Why are women in music videos often shown in less clothing than they should be? The song seems to work well enough for the most part. The video is strange, but I guess most of them are.
